About Move Well Yoga
I have been practicing yoga since I was in my late teens and teaching since 2016
My original teacher training was with the Classical Yoga School (CYS) in Perth, where I gained a 200 hour RYS certificate in Hatha Raja Yoga. Mainly concentrating on the principles and teachings of Ashtanga Yoga.
Since then, I have gained a further 200 hour RYS certificate in Yin and Therapeutic Yoga and completed a 5 day intensive CET in Forrest Inspired Yoga as well as CPD workshops in Vinyasa, Functional Flow and various forms of complimentary massage. All of these disciplines inspire my teaching styles today.
Meet Sharon: Integrating Yoga, Movement & Anatomy for a Balanced Practice
Due to the fact I teach a lot of sports specific yoga and movement classes, I often deal with people who have injuries and specific areas they are looking to target, so my anatomy knowledge has been furthered with CPD weekends with Leslie Kaminoff, David Keil and Chris Kummer, a 10 month anatomy course with Gary Carter and more recently online trainings with Tiffany Cruikshank of Yoga Medicine, Drew Hume of Yoga Detour, Tom Myers of Anatomy Trains and Celest Pereira.
I love to be a student as well as a teacher, attending as many classes as I can, combined with a self practice. There is always so much to learn from others and yourself. When I’m not on my yoga mat, you might find me cycling up a mountain in Spain, clambering up a wall at Alien Rock, sweating it out on the spin bike or walking my two rescue dogs. As I am generally active, I have a great interest in teaching movement to people who do sports as I believe that this is a really good complimentary practice for every activity that puts pressure on the muscles, fascia and joints
My classes are generally a mix of different styles of movement dependent on the class, but they will involve active stretching and functional movement to gain both strength and flexibility. This is why my favourite style of class is a Functional Flow as it is the perfect way to find balance and longevity in both your movement practice and every day life. I also love teaching beginners as I really find it is so important to start from the basics and build a strong foundation in your practice.
Hope to see you on the mat!
Sharon ~
