About Move Well Yoga | Meet Sharon & Bongo
Meet Sharon and Bongo from Move Well Yoga in Lanjarón, Alpujarras, Andalucia, Spain, and learn about their yoga, movement, retreat, and wellness approach.
Sharon and Bongo
Sharon has been practising yoga since her late teens and teaching since 2016.
Her original teacher training was with the Classical Yoga School in Perth, where she gained a 200-hour RYS certificate in Hatha Raja Yoga, with a strong focus on the principles and teachings of Ashtanga Yoga.
Since then, she has completed a further 200-hour RYS certificate in Yin and Therapeutic Yoga, a 5-day intensive CET in Forrest Inspired Yoga, and continued professional development workshops in Vinyasa, Functional Flow, and complementary massage. These disciplines shaped her teaching style today.
Her husband Bongo is of Italian and Scottish descent. He became an engineer before leaving England behind to embrace life as a student at the University of Edinburgh. While juggling work and study, he discovered that his true passion was, in fact, cooking. He went on to work as a chef for the next thirty years until he realised that Scottish weather has its limitations. He loves preparing delicious meals for the guests at Casa Bienestar. He spends his spare time enjoying cycling, walking, and hiking in the nearby Alpujarras and Sierra Nevada mountains.
Sharon and Bongo headed for Andalusia and are now living the dream! In January and February 2026, they took part in the Channel 4 TV series in the UK, "A New Life In The Sun"
Meet Sharon: Yoga, Movement and Anatomy
I teach many sports-specific yoga and movement classes, often working with people who have injuries or areas they want to improve. Because of this, I have continued to deepen my anatomy training through:
- CPD weekends with Leslie Kaminoff, David Keil, and Chris Kummer
- A 10-month anatomy course with Gary Carter
- Online trainings with Tiffany Cruikshank (Yoga Medicine), Drew Hume (Yoga Detour), Tom Myers (Anatomy Trains), and Celest Pereira
I love being a student as well as a teacher, and I attend as many classes as I can alongside my own self-practice. There is always more to learn from others and from your own body.
When I am not on the mat, you will often find me cycling up mountains in Spain, climbing, training, or walking my two rescue dogs. I am passionate about helping active people move better, recover well, and support muscles, fascia, and joints through intelligent movement.
Teaching Style and Philosophy
My classes combine different movement styles depending on the session, and usually include active stretching and functional movement to build both strength and flexibility.
Functional Flow is one of my favourite styles to teach because it supports balance, resilience, and long-term movement health in both practice and everyday life.
I also love teaching beginners. Starting with strong foundations is one of the best ways to develop confidence and progress safely in yoga and movement practice.

Guest Experiences and Testimonials
Here are a few kind words from guests and students who have practised with Move Well Yoga.
"Sharon is a highly qualified and very experienced tutor in movement and dynamic posture. Her enthusiasm for her discipline and her respect for her clients make her a very caring coach and therapist."
Michele Hall
"I knew nothing about yoga and expected to drop out after a day or so. That did not happen because Sharon was able to guide and encourage a complete novice like me whilst at the same time challenging those who were much more experienced. No one felt left out."
Dean Mann
"I have just completed a yoga retreat with Sharon in South West France, and would highly recommend her. She is quite simply the best yoga teacher I have ever had. Her classes have a wonderful flow and she made it easy to follow and fun to do."
Greer Millar
"Sharon is quite simply the best yoga teacher in Edinburgh. The quality of her teaching is first class and her classes are always different, interesting, challenging, fun, and supportive."
Johanna Cromack
"Brilliant yoga teacher. Her classes have helped me so much and she is always learning and bringing new ideas into class. Always fun, always challenging, always helpful."
Bhauliya Moss
"Sharon is very good at adaptations for people working around injuries and at getting everyone in the class to work at his or her own level, with more demanding variations for those ready to progress and no pressure on those who need to take it more slowly."
